‘Body is not stiff, mind is stiff’
K. Pattabhi Jois
My own yoga practice started about 10 years ago, slowly evolving from using static stretches as part of my own training (mainly running and weights), to longer sequences which became an exercise routine. I also started introducing yoga exercises with some of my clients, especially those with lower back problems, and the feedback and results were so good I started studying deeper into what the yoga could do both for myself, and my clients.
I’ve now studied Yoga both in the UK and India and I’m qualified to teach Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow, Yin Yoga, Dru Yoga, Pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation. The yoga has improved my practice as a therapist, giving me a greater understanding of the relationship between mind and body, for example how stress can cause physical pain, and physical exercises, breathing exercises and being mindful of stress can all be used in recovery.
I post videos on youtube to support my classes and workshops as Neil Williams Yoya
